We are currently living in a geological age that scientists are calling the Anthropocene, defined by the influence of human activity on Earth’s ecological systems. Awareness of environmental disasters, pollution, resource depletion and the resulting instability is becoming embedded in our culture as a crisis that requires urgent action. However, scientists—and artists—have been paying attention to this for a long time. Future Fossil: Art & Ecology in the Anthropocene is a book featuring the work of six artists who have explored the theme of human’s impact on ecology in different ways. This book and identity was designed to promote an art exhibition proposed for the Museum of Contemporary Art.
